The work of Ivailo Stanev — built over decades.

Ivailo Stanev (b. 1976) is a Bulgarian photographer based in Spain. His practice encompasses portraiture, editorial and documentary photography, alongside independent photographic projects developed over more than 25 years.

His editorial career includes collaborations with Esquire, Playboy, Harper’s Bazaar and Maxim, with photographs appearing on more than 100 magazine covers. Between 2014 and 2019, he was photo editor of Esquire Bulgaria.

Alongside his commissioned work, Stanev has developed independent projects including Corrida, E-motion, Documentary Turn and The Colour of the Street. His work moves between portraiture, observation and constructed imagery, with several projects developing through repeated encounters with the same subjects over time.

His archive brings together commissioned photographs, independent series and previously unpublished work. Images originally produced for editorial assignments sit alongside photographs from personal projects, tracing the development of his practice across different periods and contexts.
