ARTIST'S BIO:
Sasha Gouliaev is a Russian photographer based in the Netherlands. Born in 1966 he became a professional ballet dancer who has studied at the famous Perm academy and later was accepted to the Perm Ballet. His ballet journey continues with his acceptance to the Kirov Ballet, where he danced main roles with famous ballerinas such as Asylmuratova, Chenchikova, Kunakova. After that, he danced in Amsterdam for ten years.
The empty feeling Sasha felt when he stopped dancing he quickly replaced by photography "It came from nowhere, but it came... And when taking my first ballet pictures, my future became clear to me, I knew immediately what I was going to look for: I was going to look for perfection again.
I would like to show that Ballet is not just one of the Arts, this is the main Art. I would like to show the moments of perfection hardly anyone can achieve, only ballet dancers can! I have a strong desire to show people the heart and soul of the theatre! I want people to love it and I want them to go and see it for themselves.
The photography is not just a way to earn a living for me, this is my life, this is what found me, this is my passion."
