ABOUT "THE COLOUR OF THE STREET"
This 3-year project explores the connection between the cityscape and the travelling person, enhanced by compelling and memorable colours, and in particular how these elements shape memories of the experience.
The highly attractive colour spaces in an almost geometric system intersected by chromatically passing images represent man and the environment in the secondary, and so every observer is offered the privilege to establish contact with the depicted, to build a personal emotional connection before he understands what they represent.
In the blurred line between photography and the poster, the author experiments with statics and geometry in the image, paying special attention to the horizon, light and colour, without being alert to the place. The inner paradox of the works consists of the combination of a strong imitation of the realism of the surrounding urban landscape with a real colour abstraction, closer to drawing than to photography. Consciously or unconsciously, the author builds smooth comparisons and suggestions between his visual perception and the perception of the viewers.
The title of each of the works carries nothing but a place and this way the viewer builds the connection between himself and the work because they both have something to tell.
Provoked by the perception of colour, a person finds his memories and creates emotional bridges that seal the experience and push us to be a tireless and searching traveller.
