Ivailo Stanev - Álvarez was born in Lovech, Bulgaria in 1976. He reveals his passion for photography at the age of 15. His childhood passed in the small communist country, but with the opening of the borders, his love for photography takes him to different parts of the world. At the moment, he is based in Valencia, Spain.
At the beginning of his photographic career, he worked mainly in the field of fashion and advertising photography. Over the years, his name becomes recognisable with numerous publications for the male magazines Playboy, Maxim and FHM, as well as the lifestyle magazines - Harper's Bazaar, OK, Go guide, Men's Health, Elegance …
In 2010 he created the largest photographic studio in Bulgaria.
In 2013, as a result of observations during his trips, he launched a project titled “Children of the World”, inspired by the everyday life of the children around the world. Until now, this project has taken him to 4 continents - Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
In 2014, after becoming a certified diver, he united his two passions - photography and diving and resulting of this are the projects “Red Sea” and “Between two worlds”.
In 2015, the oldest lifestyle magazine, Esquire, chose him as a photo editor and photographer of his edition in Bulgaria.
In 2017 Magnum photo and theprintspace chose him as one of the finalists in the Magnum Swap Shop, a photo contest inspired by Martin Parr and David Hearn.
In 2017, he finalised his project called “Rojo”, inspired by one of the oldest and at the same time very controversial Spanish tradition - the corrida.
In the same year, he became a photo editor for DALI Magazine.
Since the beginning of 2018, the logical continuation of his carrier is the opening of his author's gallery - MONOCHROME Hub VLC., in Valencia, Spain, where he presents and sells original limited edition photography. In the gallery can be seen much of his works made through the years.
He has five solo exhibitions and 25 participations in joint exhibitions and projects.
In 2018 he was one of the winners of Olympus Masters 2018 with expositions in Prague, Cheh Republic and London.
In the same year he win FIAP Silver medal.
